LEOS International has submitted a £50m redevelopment plan of a Weybridge business park into nearly 200 homes. The “luxury” homes will include 18 houses and 134 apartments, just around the corner from the exclusive St George’s Hill Private estate.
After public consultation, an application for the St George’s Business Park site has been submitted to Elmbridge Borough Council. The site is covered by permitted development, meaning it can be changed from commercial to residential new homes.
The St George’s Gardens development is only ‘stones’ away from St George’s Hill, one of the UK’s most sought-after private estates. The development will provide “luxurious living in Surrey County”.
Residents, councillors, and community groups expressed concerns about trees, design, architecture, car parking, and eco-friendly initiatives during the consultation period, which ended in December 2021.
Around a third of the site will be publicly accessible and feature a landscaped boulevard, a village square, and a semi-private pocket park for residents. The development will have butterfly boxes and dog bins throughout the site, and as part of the planning, the old mature trees will be protected. In addition, as part of the development, 134 basement car parking spaces will be provided for the apartments along Brooklands Road, with each space equipped with an electric car charging socket.
Planning director Chris Pittock of LEOS International said: “This is an important proposal for the local area which addresses concerns about the delivery of new housing and environmental sustainability.”
